Bellevue Botanical Gardens
located in Bellevue, Washington

This wonderful botanical garden in Bellevue, Washington features 36 acres of amazing flora. As with many areas in the Pacific Northwest, the site was originally blanketed with immense trees that attracted logging industries - but after the timber ran out the settlement disappeared. Later, it became farmland and then the Shorts private estate. The Shorts later deeded it to the city as a park and part of that area was set aside for the Botanical Gardens.

Though relatively new, there are a variety of wonderful gardens to explore at Bellevue. The areas include the Dahlia Garden, Entrance Garden, Alpine Rock Garden, Fuschia Garden, Perennial Border, Wateriwse Garden, Shorts Ground Cover Garden, Yao Japanese Garden, Native Discovery Garden and the Lost Meadow Trail. There is also a traditional Knot Garden with herbs, a Rhododendron Glen and a Wildflower Garden

Every year during the holidays (first Sat after Thanksgiving to New Year's), they hold the Garden d'Lights which consists of Xmas light sculptures of animals and plants displayed throughout the garden.

The facilities are not open for weddings, but they do accomodate wedding photos and family portraits. They also rent out certain buildings, mostly for garden-sponsored events and programs.
