Birmingham Botanical Gardens
located in Birmingham, Alabama

This wonderful 67 acre garden in Birmingham, AL is a sort of partnership between the city and the 2000 strong member "Friends of BBG." The latter's primary mission is to educate the public about plant and the environment while also helping preserve and develop the garden. Original support for the creation of the botanical gardens came from the former mayor of Birmingham, James W. Morgan.

There are a ton of different varieties of plants and flowers to see, some of which include iris, lilies, roses, and rhododendrons. Individual gardens (over 20 of them to check out) include the Japanese Garden, Wildflower Garden, Fern Glade and Southern Living Garden. There is also a conservatory, greenhouse and herbarium to visit. Over 30 outdoor sculptures are also on the garden grounds.

For weddings, meetings and other events, there are indoor and outdoor spaces available at the Garden Center. There are also adult education classes, discovery field trips and summer programs for kids.

You should add "Friends of Birmingham Botanical Gardens" to all correspondence with the garden. Please note, there is another fairly famous "Birmingham" Botanical Gardens but that one is located in England.
