Bivin Garden
located in Shidler, Oklahoma

Bivin Gardens is pretty darn amazing when you consider that it was constructed basically out of nothing in the middle of nowhere by Ray and Mollie Bivin who weren't even trained as horticulturists. They begun their oasis in 1982 after building their home on the outskirts of Shidler, OK. This is a public garden now and is open for viewing on the weekends from spring until fall (although they suggest visiting in the summer months June, July).

The six acre landscaped gardens have innumerable flower beds, lawns, four rock gardens, aviaries with exotic birdds like parakeets, peacocks and pheasant, and ornamental ponds. During the season, they have 75 varieties of roses blooming. The Bivins' focus is planting unusual species that will be able to thrive in the extreme climate of their region in Oklahoma.
