Boxerwood Gardens
located in Lexington, Virginia 

Boxerwood is a smallish garden in Lexington that was originally created by Dr. Robert S. Munger who over the years collected many different specimens on trees and plants. The aboretum spans 15 acres and the nature center has 6 different habitats. Much of the focus of the garden is on the environment and conservation, and they host numerous educational programs and tours for schools.

The arboretum is filled with both native and exotic trees and plants, including: 167 varieties of Dwarf Conifers, 57 Magnolias, 81 Dogwoods, 290 varieties of Rhododendrons / Azaleas and 154 varieties of Japanese Maple. Within the area, there is also a Herb Garden, Bee House, Lodge Center, a Wetlands area, bird blind, and mulch / compost educational areas.
