Canaan in the Desert is the American branch of the Evangelical Sisterhood of Mary, founded by Mother Basilea Schlink in 1968. It's located north of Phoenix Mtn Preserve and features a Prayer Garden with sculptured reliefs of Jesus' Passion and Resurrection. There is also a Fountain of the Father's Goodness and a Chapel. Much of the garden and reliefs are set amongst natural Arizona desert plants, with pathways and benches to sit on for spiritual reflection.
