Cave of the Mounds
located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin

While this may not be the most spectacular gardens around, this is sure to be a hit with the kids, especially in combination with the main attraction - Cave of the Mounds. Sometimes referred to as the "jewel box" of America’s major caves because of the wide variety of formations, this National Natural Landmark gets its name from the two nearby Blue Mounds hills.

Besides the wonderful stalactites, stalagmites and columns underground, the grounds also feature Prairie and Savanna Restoration Gardens as well as the Rock Gardens, an area devoted to perennial flowers accented by some of the interesting formations of rock in the area. There is also a Butterfly garden that host Monarch butteflies every spring. The Discovery Center is located in Ebenezer Brigham's old barn. The area also has a large number of hiking and biking trails.

Cave of the Mounds is also available for Birthday parties in case you're looking for an unusual place to hold one for your child.
