Cheyenne Botanical Gardens
One of the most interesting parts of the garden is the High Plains Arboretum which was orginally begun as a field station in the 1930s to research suitable plants for growing in the High Plains areas of the U.S. Unfortunately, the arboretum is now closed to the public after its mission was aborted in the 70s, although you can contact the gardens to view it by special arrangement. The "Friends of the High Plains Arboretum" is a group that is currently attempting to preserve the remaining plants and trees that have survived in the Arboretum.
Other notable features in the outside grounds include cacti, rose and herb gardens, displays for annual and perennial flowers, a Sensory Garden w/ gazebo, the Women's Civic League Peace Garden, a Discovery Pond and Wetlands area, and Xeriscape planting garden.
