Christopher Memorial Arboretum
located in Kingston, Rhode Island

This arboretum is located on the campus of the University of Rhode Island in Kingston. Originally, it was a native stand of flora and vegetation that was planted with trees in the earliest days of the University. It is named after the late Dr. Everett P. Christopher and is funded by an endowment under his name, along with local donations.

The arboretum has a variety of deciduous trees and evergreens, with over 140 species and cultivars. Some of the trees are labeled while others are not, and there are calls to get a consistent labeling system in place and to enable them to be utilized more fully as teaching tools in plant identification. As well, there are proposals to replace existing species and introduce new cultivars (both exotic and native species).
