Compton Gardens
located in Bentonville, Arkansas

Dr. Neil Compton's original home and grounds was given by him to the Peel House Foundation in 2002, so that his efforts in the preservation of the natural Arkansas environment around his property might be continued. The Compton Gardens now consists of 6 1/2 acres of native plants, walking trails and prairie, along with an interpretive center. The house itself contains a conference center on the upper floor and the lower area now functions as home to the Northwest Arkansas Genealogical Society, the Benton County Historical Society and the Benton County Cemetery Preservation Group.

Dr. Compton was known as the "Savior of the Buffalo River" and was the founder of the Ozark Society. The garden contains a large variety of native woodland plants, and over 55 species of trees, most native to the Ozarks. The entire garden has over 300 different varieties of native plants and trees along with many non-native speces as well.

The homesite is actually available for rentals for smaller functions including weddings, retreats, conferences, and seminars.
