Core Arboretum
located in Morgantown, West Virginia 

The Core Arboretum spans 91 acres and is located alongside the Monongahela River in Morgantown, WV. It's owned and operated by WVU and you can actually park at the colliseum in order to access the arboretum.

Early on it was part of a family farm. The property was acquired by the university in the 40s and was named after Professor Earl Lemley Core who was instrumental in securing it for biological and botanical studies.

The aboretum has a ton of different types of both native and non-native trees and over 300 species of woody plants. There are 3.5 miles of trails that go deeper into heavily forested areas and 3 acres of "specimen" trees that were planted. more common types of trees include silver maples, various hardwood and oaks. There is also an abundance of wildflowers in the arboretum.
