Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden
located in Belmont, North Carolina

This is a fairly young garden but in recent years has become extremely popular (it was named by HGTV as one of the nation's 20 greatest gardens). It was started up in 1989 when Daniel J. Stowe established the foundation and grounds as a botanical garden. It was only opened to the public in 1999.

The current gardens have a large Visitor Pavillion, Four Seasons Garden, Cottage Garden and Fountain, Azalea Garden, an interesting Canal Garden with Fountains, the Nellie Rhyne Stowe White Gardens, four different Perennial Gardens, a conifer garden, woodland trails and ponds.

This has become an extremely popular regional garden to get married in, so if you're interested in having your wedding here you need to book in advance. They have many areas available for garden weddings, including the following areas which may be combined to produce a special venue on your special day: Robert Lee Stowe Pavilion, Garland Boardroom, Wren Rooms, Portrait Galleries, Garden Terraces, Nellie Rhyne Stowe White Garden and the Great Hall.

Some of the items they recommend bringing in their visiting tips: camera, insect repellant, sunscreen, picnic items, art supplies if you want to sketch.
