Desert Botanical Garden
located in Phoenix, Arizona

Desert Botanical Garden has a history stretching back to the 30s when citizens of the surrounding areas banded together to form a botanical park focused on desert flora, in particular those plants of the Sonoran Desert. Today it consists of a 50 acre garden that has one of the best desert plant displays in world. It is located in Papago Park and showcases many outdoor exhibits of plantlife including 139 rare or threatened plant species.

Various trails wind throughout the garden, allowing visitors to see different types of cacti, succulents and other desert plants from the area. Trails include: the Sonoran Desert Trail, Plants and People of the Sonoran Desert Trail, Center for Desert Living Trail, Desert Discovery Trail, and the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Trail. The gardens also host exhibits of non-plant related material like sculpture and artwork, and host numerous workshops and school programs.
