Forever Ranch and Gardens
located in Yucca,
Arizona
This is a wonderful newer botanical garden and resource center set in a remote desert location 17 miles from the town of Yucca. At present, they don't have a dedicated facility in order to accept visitors so you should call or email them for more information and to make an appointment.
This 40 acre project currently has over 165 species of native and naturalized exotic plants. It was begun in 1998 and the mission involved "sustainable living of all sorts, with regionally appropriate modifications depending upon the ecological zone." To that end, Xeric dryland plantings are focused on, with priority on native desert plants but also including desert plants from areas around the world.
The native plants come from three different ecozones: the Mojave Desert, the Sonoran Desert, and the Arizona Interior Chaparral zones. Some of the types of plants include cactuses, yucca, agave, nolina, woody shrubs, perennial herbaceous wildflowers, annuals, lichen, moss and fern.
The garden also does some limited sales to the public of cacti and other plants in order to help fund operations.
