Garden of the Woods
located in North Framington, Massachusetts

This wonderful woodland garden is actually the headquarters for the New England Wild Flower Society. The 45 acre botanical garden, founded in 1931 by Will Curtis, focuses on rare types of wildflowers and other endangered plants that are native to the New England area. In fact, it is the largest collection of wildflowers in a landscape setting in the entire area. The wildflowers are viewable through trails that wind through the surrounding oak forest, and is definitely a nice garden getaway to visit.

There are currrently between 1600 and 1800 different types of plant, flowers and trees, with some of the interesting and rare ones being Trout Lilies, Virginia Bluebells, Bloodroot, Oconee Bells. Other wildflowers on display in the late spring include Shooting Stars, Lady-Slippers, Wood Phlox and Trilliums, while the fall brings Blue Gentians and Asters.

Along with nearby Nasami Farms, the Garden of the Woods forms one of the largest selection of native plants for resale: the wildflowers, ferns and other woody plants are ecologically propagated and grown for sale to the public.

The garden is available for limited rental (the Education center has a capacity of 75 people), but there isn't information on the site whether garden weddings are available.
