Herrontown Woods Arboretum
located in Princeton, New Jersey

This large arboretum was originally owned by Professor Oswald Veblen, a former math instructor at Princeton University. He donated the 142 acres for use as a public arboretum in the 50s. The majority of the woods at the eastern edge of the Princeton Ridge consists of mature pine trees, sprinkled with 30 other different tree species. Although much of the woods suffered due to gypsy moth infestations in the 1970s, the resulting open canopy space left room for other species to take root.

Shrubs and wildflowers also accompany the pine forest. There are two small streams that flow throughout the woods as well as nature walking trails for viewing the flora. Admission is currently free.
