International Larix Arboretum
located in Hungry Horse,
Montana
This is a very interesting arboretum because it only focuses on one type of tree - the Larix, which is known as the Larch. Dedicated in 1992, it is part of the International Larix Symposium for research and comparison. It is located in a small 1.2 acre parcel of the Coram Experimental Forest, very close to Hungry Horse.
The arboretum is divided up into three different blocks about of trees and saplings in the Larix family. It's goal is a demonstration of Larch species and opportunities for genetic research. There are currently 12 trees of each of the different species and subspecies, including hybrids, with over 600 trees.
Visiting tourists should note, the famous Glacier National Park is located directly north of the arboretum.
