Jewell Gardens
located in Skagway, Alaska
Located in the former Gold Rush town of Skagway, Jewell Gardens is situated on part of what used to be the farm of Mr. Henry Clark (who was known locally as the Rhubarb King). Gardener Charlotte Jewell began turning a part of that farm into a unique organic flower and vegetable display garden in 1996. The beautiful blooms and plants benefit from the long sunlight hours in Alaska. Popular flowers include tulips and delphiniums.
Many of the visitors are actually cruise ship passengers who get tickets for the Jewell Garden tours aboard the ship. They also holds special "Garden Teas" and "Garden Lunches". Besides all of the flowers, one popular attraction at the gardens is the "Garden Railway" which is a model railway with trains that pass through a miniature scale depiction of an old Alaskan town like Skagway was long ago. The gardens are also available for rent for weddings and other special events.
