Lake Erie Arboretum
located in Erie, Pennsylvania

This is a very new arboretum, with the first tree plantings occuring only in 1998. Still it has a good number of younger trees with some 225 different varieties, including: Ginkgo, Common Alder, Hardy Catalpa, Kousa and Pagoda Dogwood, Douglas Fir, Black Walnut, Shagbark Hickory, Littleleaf Linden, Honey Locust, Autumn Blaze Maple, Scarlet Oak, Russian Olive, and Corkscrew Willow.

The arboretum is located within Frontier Park (these tree species were listed on their site). Trails wind among the trees and pass by a "virtual tree" gazebo and stream valley lookouts.

The arboretum is a popular educational and school trip destination. It is also the venue for several events including seminars, movie nights and festivals. Although the park is a free garden, there are many ways to donate including sponsoring trees, benches and even park structures.
