McGill Rose Garden
located in Charlotte, North Carolina

This small but wonderful rose-focused garden actually became an All-America Rose Selections public garden in 1998. It was begun in the 50s literally from scratch by Helen McGill in an attempt to beautify some of the industrial areas near where her husband worked. In 1967, after planting countless roses on their own, they also opened the garden to the public. The current gardens are less than 2 acres.

The gardens boast over 200 different varieties of roses with over 1000 plants. Besides the amazing rose blooms, the garden is filled with different annuals, perennials, and herbs. The gardens also host educational programs, a garden area for children, workshops, and horticultural therapy.

The McGill Rose Garden does allow facility rental for events such as birthdays, luncheons, gatherings and weddings. If you're interested in a garden wedding at their site, please contact them. They also have some interesting ways to donate such as the Adopt-A-Rose program where you get to pick out a rose to honor a loved one or friend (very popular around Valentine's and Mothers' Day).
