Mt. Cuba Center Gardens
located in Greenville, Delaware

This is a wonderful large 650 acre horticultural garden, education, research center and preserve in northern Delaware. Their mission is the cultivation of many different types of native flora from the state as well as the preservation of larger tracts of land, pasture, fields, woodlands and forests that surround the center. They are well known for amazing wildflower displays every spring, and the surrounding natural lands host at least 55 species of rare native Delaware plants.

The Center is the former home estate of Mr. and Mrs. Lammot du Pont Copeland (he was actually President and Chairman of the Du Pont Company).

The garden areas include the woods path which is lined with tulip-poplar trees and wildflowers, the West Slope Path which is lined with Blue phlox and white foamflower, Dogwood Path, several Ponds, a native grass meadow with bluestem, broom-sedge, and Indian grass, a Lilac Allee, a Round Garden featuring a cross shaped pool, a South Terrace with native azaleas and a Trial Garden where research is done on plant groups.
