St. Gaudens National Historic Site
located in Cornish, New Hampshire

This is the estate of the famous American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. It is located in New Hampshire in Cornish, very close to the border with Vermont. The home and area is actually a National Historic Monument and thus is a part of the National Park System (more detailed info can be found on
their website). Although the buildings are only open from Memorial Day to Halloween, the grounds themselves including the gardens are open the rest of the year as well (and with no admission fee).

Some of the gardens you can visit here include a 6000 sq. foot cutting garden that is used for propagation (but was originally used for growing vegetables), Italian styled Terraced Perennial gardens (with various statuary by Saint-Gaudens), a "Little" Studio Pergola, a Birch tree Grove and Allee walk, white pine and Hemlock hedges, and a 110 foot Champion tree (a Thornless Honeylocust)

There are over 100 pieces of Saint-Gaudens' sculpture on the grounds and in the galleries in the park, as well as other various exhibitions.

There are 2 miles of winding nature trails that run alongside the brook and swimming hole, and down to the mill pond. In the summer/fall season the garden and trails are filled with flowers.
