Nearby the West Point Academy is Stonecrop Gardens, which was the former home of Anne and Frank Cabot. As of 1992 it's a wonderfully diverse, higher altitude twelve acre garden that has a variety of different features. These include English-styled garden areas, woodland garden, water garden area with pools and a small lake, alpine stone beds, cliff rock gardens, gravel garden and a grass garden.
There is also a Conservatory with dwarf alpine plants and bulbs, Alpine House, Pit House and systematic order beds (50 plant families). Check out the bloom calendar on their site for information on when particular plants and flowers are best viewed.
