Strawberry Banke Museum and Gardens
located in Portsmouth,
New Hampshire
This is a collection of 40 historical buildings, several of which were actually moved to the area in order to prevent them from being demolished. The area dates back to 1630. Among some of the buildings are several planned gardens, including the Aldrich Garden which was created in the early 1900s, the Goodwin Garden which is a recreated Victorian garden that is based upon Sarah Goodwin's diary and landscape plans from the 1860s, a Herb Garden (1967) focusing on medicinal herbs used in New England before 1800, a Victorian-era Greenhouse with period plants, the Shapiro Garden (a recreated vegetable garden), a 1940s Victory Garden, Sherburne Garden (which features recreated raised-bed kitchen garden from the colonial era), and the Walsh Garden which features a recreated 19th-century flower border.
