The Arboretum at Flagstaff
located in Flagstaff, Arizona

The land the 200 acre arboretum currently occupies was once the home of Frances McAllister in the 1960s. She donated the land and began work on creating the public arboretum in the 1980s. Her goal was to heighten the use of specific drought-tolerant, high elevation plants in the local regional gardens of the area.

Today the 7000+ elevation arboretum has a grand collection of 2500 plant species focusing on the same local water-conservant plants. There are several specific gardens including a herb garden, kitchen garden, shade garden, butterfly garden, wildflower meadow, Penstemon garden (formerly the groundcover garden), nature trail and a constructed wetlands area.

The arboretum is also on the same Colorado plateau as the popular Grand Canyon and Zion National Parks. They have guided tours, Birds of Prey programs and other activities. The grounds are not currently available for garden wedding rental.
