William Bartram Arboretum
located in Wetumpka, Alabama 

This arboretum is actulaly named after naturalist William Bartram who was a friend of Benjamin Franklin. The garden is located within Fort Toulouse State Historical Park. The Fort was originally constucted in 1714 and was later rebuilt by Andrew Jackson. Bartram visited the area, collecting plant samples and recording everything he saw.

The park itself also has campgrounds during the spring, summer and early fall. The arboretum was begun by the "Garden Club of Alabama" and is part of the boardwalk and trails that connect the visitor's center with For Toulouse. Along the way, visitors walk through wildflowers, forests and bogs.

The park also hosts picnic areas, a boat launch and fishing/water sport amenities.
