Zilker Botanical Gardens

These Botanical Gardens are located in Zilker Park, named after Colonel Andrew Zilker an Austin area businessman and philanthropist who donated portions of the land in the nearby area. The gardens' mission is to promote the love of gardening for all ages. They span 31 acres and were established in 1955.
Some of the different areas include a Cactus / Succulent Garden, Herb / Fragrance Gardens, Doug Blachly Butterfly Garden and Trails, the Isamu Taniguchi Gardens (featuring the Togetsu-kyo bridge or "Bridge to Walk Over the Moon", Japanese Teahouse, Stone Gates and Koi Ponds), Rose Garden, Perennial Garden, Hartman "Prehistoric" Garden (devoted to ancient plants like palms, cycads, and ferns which were thought to be contemporaries of the dinosaurs) and the Freda Bodine Caladium Garden.
Wedding ceremonies are not permitted in the gardens, but bridal photography is allowed (please check the site for guidelines and necessary permits).
